
Based in Brooklyn, New York, he also serves as a board member of the Brooklyn Community Foundation, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation. Martin is a member of the Production Executives group of the Television Academy (Emmys), and the Directors Guild of America. He was also a senior producer for HBO’s acclaimed news magazine show, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. Prior to founding Peaceful Warrior, Martin was a Director of Production at HBO where he won multiple Emmys as a producer and director, including a 2008 Emmy for Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush. Benji was an official selection of the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival. Martin has also produced and directed numerous films for ESPN’s Peabody and Emmy-winning 30 for 30 series, including Benji, a documentary exploring the tragic 1984 death of Ben Wilson, an iconic Chicago high school basketball star. If youre a sports fan then you already know this story but its really amazing what this HBO documentary is able to do because its just so excellent that it really makes you forget what you already know and it makes you feel as if youre hearing these stories for the first time. For the international soccer series, Martin directed episodes set in England, Spain, Holland and Ghana. In 2014, to coincide with the World Cup in Brazil, Xbox Entertainment Studios hired Martin to direct Every Street United, the platform’s first-ever original documentary project. In 2015, he also produced Muhammad Ali: The People’s Champion for BET Networks, a winner of the NAACP Image Award for outstanding television documentary. Martin was creator and Co-Executive Producer of The Agent, a 2015 docu-series about NFL agents for NBC’s Esquire Network.
